Marion County mails property tax bills

Posted: 08 Apr 2010 01:12 PM PDT

Marion County taxpayers will be receiving their property tax bills in coming days -- the first bills to be sent on time in four years because of a statewide reassessment in 2007.

There also will be a change that taxpayers will notice: a pink form that homestead property owners should fill out and return to the Marion County auditor's office. Information from those forms will go into a statewide database that will provide better tracking of homestead properties so property owners do not receive deductions for more than one property.

Property tax bills are due May 10 and may be paid through local bank branches or in person at the Marion County treasurer's office. Taxpayers also can mail a check to the office or pay by credit card.

For more information, call (317) 327-4444 or visit www.indy.gov/treasurer.

St. Joe Co. ready to send out property tax bills

    Posted: 08 Apr 2010 01:08 PM PDT

As tax day rapidly approaches, it's also time to think about your property taxes.

The St. Joseph County Treasurer's Office is printing the bills and ready to send them out.

This year's bill includes a homestead verification form for those taxpayers who currently receive a homestead deduction.

These forms must be filled out and returned to the county auditor's office.

Although bills will be sent out in the next couple of days, residents shouldn't expect their bill until next Friday.

We are printing the property tax bills and we want to make certain that people are aware that they should be receiving their bills by next Friday, April 16. This year there will be two installment due dates. The first installment due date is May 10th," said Sean Coleman, St. Joseph County Treasurer.

Taxpayers are encouraged to make payments through the mail, but can also pay in person or online.
