INDIANAPOLIS, IN (AP) - Property tax bills in at least 85 Indiana counties will be mailed this spring or have already been mailed, resulting in the normal May 10 due date.

The Department of Local Government Finance says it's the first time that's happened since 2002.

Only Kosciusko and Owen counties billed on-time in 2009.  No county achieved on-time billing in 2008.

Delays in recent years have been attributed to the change to the market value-based property tax system and the onset of trending. That's updating property values annually to reflect the property's market value in use.

Online county property tax records will soon include residential photos, aerials

When the 2009 Wilkes County property tax notices finally go out "maybe by next week," owners will have more to look at than just their updated assessments. The Board of Commissioners voted last Thursday, April 8, to approve the addition of photographs and aerial views to the county's online property listings.
