Posted: 24 Jul 2010 08:34 PM PDT Henderson County's delinquent property tax bills are going up for sale soon, and Tuesday is the deadline for registering if you want to buy one. So far only two firms have registered with the Henderson County Clerk's Office, according to Chief Deputy Clerk Renesa Abner. They are Lien Solutions LLC of Crestwood and Kentucky Lien Holdings LLC of Murray. In recent years private firms have been buying delinquent tax bills as investments; some of them have aggressively sought payment, filing lawsuits against the delinquent property owners. This year the delinquent tax sale will begin at 9 a.m. Aug. 11 in the fiscal court meeting room on the top floor of the Henderson County Courthouse. Anyone wishing to buy a delinquent bill must register with the Henderson County Clerk's Office by close of business Tuesday. Abner noted that delinquent property owners still have opportunities to make good on their debts. "They can pay all the way up to the day before the sale," she said, which is Aug. 10. "They cannot pay the day of the sale. "I encourage people to pay their tax bills before they are sold, if they can." The tax bills may be inspected at the clerk's office, or may be viewed and downloaded from the Web site http://countyclerk.hendersonky.us. That Web site shows there are 522 real estate property tax bills that are currently delinquent, with a face value of $228,013. The smallest bill is for $40 and the largest is the $12,237 owed by Merritt Enterprises LLC of Owensboro for the convenience store it owns at 2627 U.S. 41-North. The second-largest delinquent is Image Properties LLC, also of Owensboro, which owes $10,925 on seven parcels of real estate.
